Lars Ulrich, drummer for Metallica and notorious opponent of file-sharing, admitted that he used a torrent to download his own album ten days before its official release. This is a recession. And in a recession who can pass up a chance at a surefire way to figure out if the new Metallica CD is another $20 piece of shit? He’s come a long way since the years of getting all of his fans banned from Napster:

Metallica hired online consulting firm NetPD to monitor the Napster service for a weekend. A list of 335,435 Napster users who were believed to be sharing Metallica’s music was compiled, and the 60,000 page document was delivered to Napster’s office as Metallica requested the users be banned from the service.

If you can’t beat ‘em, get better lawyers. If you still can’t beat ‘em, pretend you were never a huge fucking baby about it.

Oh, and he also claims to be drunk with some friends while this happened. He has friends? Sure, Lars. We believe you.
